Every great book begins the same way - in chaos.

A scattered folder of notes.Half-written chapters. A string of voice memos recorded in traffic.A feeling that there’s something there, but no idea where to start.

That’s the moment most people find me. As a ghostwriter, my job is to take that raw, unfiltered energy - the story you’ve been carrying - and build it into a finished book ready for readers, publishers, or screens.

Here’s what that process actually looks like, step by step.

Step 1: Discovery - finding the story within the story.

It starts with a conversation.

We talk - on Zoom, or in person, over coffee - about what this project really is.

Not just the subject, but the reason behind it. Why this book? Why now? What do you want readers to feel when they turn the last page?

These early conversations are as much about psychology as storytelling. I listen for patterns - repeated ideas, emotional triggers, the words that matter most when you say them.

Sometimes, what starts as a “business book” turns into a memoir about resilience. Sometimes, a “romance” reveals itself as a story about independence. The real book usually lives beneath the one you think you’re writing once we’ve found that pulse, I can map the path forward.

Step 2: Research & Development - building the foundation.

Next, I gather everything that already exists: notes, emails, scripts, journals, marketing copy, past interviews, or even text messages. Anything that holds your voice. I read it all - not just to understand your ideas, but to understand you. Your rhythm, phrasing, humour, and worldview all shape the narrative tone.

From there, I create a Story Blueprint - a working document that outlines the book’s structure, themes, tone, and purpose. It’s not rigid; it’s a living document that evolves as we go. If needed, I’ll also conduct research - factual, historical, or thematic - to make sure your story is authentic and grounded.

Step 3: Outlining - turning ideas into architecture

Once the foundation’s clear, we move into structure.

This is where we decide:

  • What happens first.

  • What belongs where.

  • What stays in, and what goes.

For nonfiction, that might mean a chapter-by-chapter outline that mirrors your key insights or business frameworks. For memoir or fiction, it becomes a story arc - the emotional journey readers will take with you.

Outlines are where AI can assist - never to write, but to help test flow and pacing. We anonymise all details, build a structural draft, then refine it manually offline until it fits your unique story. The result? A map that shows exactly how we’ll get from chaos to clarity.

Step 4: Drafting - the alchemy of voice

This is the heart of the process.

I begin writing the first draft in your voice - the version of you that’s clear, articulate, emotionally true, and narratively strong.

You’ll receive sections or chapters as we go.I encourage feedback, not on grammar or punctuation, but on feel:

“Does this sound like you?”

“Is this how you’d explain it to someone close to you?”

That’s how we refine voice authenticity. Every project includes at least two full rounds of amends.I handle line editing and developmental shaping as part of the process, so by the time we reach the second draft, it already feels like something you could have written - if you’d had the time and distance to do it perfectly.

Step 5: Editing - refining tone, rhythm, and flow

When the draft is complete, the work shifts from writing to sculpting.

We focus on:

  • Pacing - where to breathe, where to break.

  • Consistency - tone, tense, and point of view.

  • Energy - ensuring every page earns its place.

For fiction, that means trimming fat and deepening emotional stakes.

For nonfiction, it’s about clarity and authority - making sure your ideas sing in plain English without losing sophistication. I bring in a trusted editor or proofreader if needed, ensuring a second set of eyes before publication.

Step 6: Formatting, Design & Pre-Launch Prep

When the manuscript is final, we prepare it for the world.

If you’re self-publishing, I handle the full KDP (my personal choice) / IngramSpark setup - formatting the manuscript for eBook and print, crafting back-cover copy, and coordinating with designers for a professional cover that fits your genre.

If you’re seeking traditional publication, I can help with your query letter, synopsis, or pitch deck, ensuring it aligns with industry standards and feels true to your story.

And if you’re adapting for screen? We can map your book into a treatment or feature-length script outline, ready for the next stage.

Step 7: Launch Strategy - bringing it to readers

Once your book exists, the next question is: how do you share it?

For some clients, that means press releases and podcast features. For others, it’s Amazon optimisation and targeted reader campaigns.

We can guide you through audience positioning, distribution, and early marketing - ensuring your launch feels like a continuation of the story, not an afterthought.

Because publishing isn’t the end of the process. It’s the start of the conversation.

From chaos to clarity - that’s the real craft

Ghostwriting isn’t just about words. It’s about trust, collaboration, and transformation.

You hand over something messy, emotional, half-formed.I return something whole - a story that sounds like you, but sharper.A narrative that carries your truth, but with polish, rhythm, and structure. That’s what we do here. We turn noise into narrative.

Ideas into ISBNs.

And chaos into something you can hold in your hands.
